Dr. Michael Stephen Bird was born to Rev. John S. Bird and Ellen Bays Bird (now Bradley) in Clarksburg, WV on May 4, 1960. His family moved to Jacksonville, FL in the summer of 1964, then to Miami in 1966, and finally to Bradenton in 1972. Dr. Bird went to high school at Bayshore High School and graduated in 1978. When Dr. Bird was sixteen years old, his father died due to complications in an open heart surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. At this time, Dr. Bird started his first job at Winn Dixie in Bradenton where he eventually worked around forty hours a week unloading trucks and stocking shelves.  He was selected to be in the management training program even though he was still in high school and learned grocery merchandising, frozen food management, and produce management.

In 1978, Dr. Bird graduated high school and left Winn Dixie at eighteen. He enrolled in Manatee Community College and worked at Manatee Federal Savings and Loan. In 1980, Dr. Bird went on to study Accounting at University of South Florida and graduated in 1981. His first professional job was a Bank Financial Auditor at First Federal of Broward which later became Glendale Federal Savings Bank.  During his four year tenure at the bank, he work also worked as an Internal Control Specialist and Internal Fraud Investigator. He did pass the CPA exam in 1985 but never became a CPA because he lost interest in the Accounting field. After leaving Glendale Federal, he started to sell insurance and annuity plans by going door to door for six months.  Following his short sales career, he worked as an Internal Control Specialist and an Information Systems Auditor at Florida Federal Savings and Loan. He obtained his Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) while working at Florida Federal.

On April 11, 1988, Dr. Bird moved to an area that later became Doral, Florida. He started his seventeen-year career at Carnival Cruise Lines. At the cruise line, Dr. Bird was an IT Auditor, IT and Voice Systems Disaster Recovery Coordinator, Systems Security Manager, Application Software Developer, IT Quality Control Analyst, Quality Assurance Supervisor, IT Software Project Manager, and IT Configuration Management. There were times where Michael worked two positions at Carnival at the same time, where he developed the talent of multi-tasking. Some key projects at Carnival included a comprehensive disaster recovery plan (1990), office services mailroom system (1991), front end system security system for the mainframe (1992), automated mass compile system (1994), Y2K Project - Mainframe, MAPPER Systems, and Vendor Management (1999), automated configuration management system for legacy application (2002), and worked many other projects in various platforms (legacy and non-legacy applications). He retired early from Carnival Cruise Lines and in 2005 he became a full time college professor at Devry University.

Dr. Bird is currently an Associate Professor at Devry University where he teaches Business Information Systems, Project Management, General Business, E-Commerce, and other Management courses. He earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University in 1998 and his doctorate (PhD) from Capella University in Organizational Management with a specialization in Information Technology in 2010. His teaching career began in February 2004 as an adjunct professor and then moved into a full time professor position in February 2005. His dissertation is published and is called, "UTILIZING AGILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AS AN EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT PROCESS TO REDUCE DEVELOPMENT TIME AND MAINTAIN QUALITY SOFTWARE DELIVERY."

Dr. has written "Chapter 12" in book a published in India entitled, "Managing Software Professionals." He has written many published online articles about education, technology, project management, and managing diversity. He has also published books that are available at Amazon.com, Harvardbookstore.biz, and other online bookstores.  Dr. Bird also does public speaking from time to time on various topics such as Agile Software Development, Time Management, Edutaining to Create Interest in the Classroom, Software Project Management, and much more.

Dr. Bird's hobbies include performing comedy, watching movies, and going to activities with his wife. He is an active volunteer and currently is a member of the Sunrise Benevolent and Paternal Order of the Elks and Oceanside Emmaus. He attends church with his wife and they are practicing Christians.  As a comedian, Dr. Bird has performed many performances under a different stage name and also produced three actual comedy shows in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Dr. Bird career started in middle school when he performed Mr. Thumbs in a religious musical called, Natural High. He provided the comic relief for what was generally a serious play. His legs were used in a beach scene for the movie, Where the Boys Are 84. In this movie, he was part of the extras walking behind the two stars on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Dr. Bird always loves to perform in front of audience.

Twenty years ago, Michael married his beautiful wife, Rose-Lynn Bird, in May of 1990 and they raised three lovely children. Their son, Thomas, died in 2001. Two daughters remain, one lives in Broward County and the other daughter lives in Chicago. The Birds are empty nesters and adopted two canine fur kids as puppies, who are now senior citizens (in dog years). The Birds reside in Plantation, Florida. Together, they look forward to a fun and exciting future as they plan to get old together.
